The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, July 3rd., 1913. NOTES AND COMMENTS.
At Tuesday’s special Council meeting a letter was read from the Health Officer, calling attention to the insanitary condition of a certain dwelling in the borough, and asking that improvements be effected in order to safeguard the health of the inmates. The Council are taking steps to have the Health Officer’s recommendations carried into effect. It would have been a wise step on the part of the Council in the interests of the public health, to ask the officer to make a general inspection of the dwellings in the borough and to report on same, instead of waiting for an outbreak ot some epidemic. There are at least a score of houses in the borough which are a greater menace to the health of the inmates than the one which received the special attention of the Health Officer.
