NEW LEGISLATIVE COUNCILLORS.

Wellington, June 27. The five new legislative Councillors are as follows; — SIR WILEIAM RUSSEEE. MR JOHN DUTHIE. MR C. A. C. HARDY. mr w; EARNSHAW. MR W. G. NICHOE.

The four first-named are all well known as ex-members of the House. Mr Earnshajy has been appointed as representative of . Labour, and Mr Nichol (who isi a half-caste native) is a well-known farmer at Paeroa (Auckland). He has had considerable experience on local bodies, and has been appointed as representative of the native race. All the new Councillors,, with the . exception of Sir William Russell (who is suffering _ from illness), will be sworn in this afternoon.
