MUNICIPAL PICTURES.
The programme for Saturday is another one of superior merit. The chief star film “The Secret of the Safe,” is a most engrossing story of a mystery that cost one man bis life and Is the cause of many thrilling incidents. A terrific railway accident occurs, in which two railway trains travelling at express speed collide with each other with startling effect. Space here will not suffice to describe this film of 2778 feet; where “The Secret of the Safe” goes into a penitentiary with a convict and how he passes it on to another convict, who, when he is released tries to open the safe and meets his death ; how others narrowly escape the same late is most thrillingly produced. The other films of dramas are : “Kitty and the Bandits,” “Coming Back of Kit Denver,” and “The Signal Code,” each ot these will rouse the usual enthusiasm. Those lovers of the comics will be amply satisfied with “Tweedledum Studies Mathematics,” “Polidor Member of the Death Club,” and ‘ ‘Merry Pimple Brings Luck.” “The Armadells,” is an educational film of more than usual interest. Those who relish the travel film will be content to take a “Trip on the East Bosnian Railway,” A very interesting film, “The Polypus,” is a study of natural history and will be worth seeing by those of a more than usual savant term of mind. The whole programme will be up to the usual excellent standard of the municipal pictures.
‘ HAYWARD’S PICTURES. A feast of good things has been arranged for Saturday’s picture entertainment at the Royal, the leading film being “The Torch of War,” which gives us a vivid picture of war scenes, and built up so naturally as to create a realistic atmosphere. The story deals with a set of circumstances by no means improbable, it thrills with human touches, and is pronounced to be a military picture of a high standard. In addition, there are “The Silent Signal” (a fine Lubin railway drama), “Mother of the Ranch” (a drama by the Essanay Co. of life on the Mexican border), “Scenes in Lapland,” and “Waterfalls of Japland.” (scenics), and “Native Customs in India.” The comics include, “Tweedledum Mistakes his Flat,” “Burglar at the Ball,” and “Bloomer out of Work.”
