STUCK IN THE MUD. Invercargill, June 23. Daniel Sinclair, aged 54, single, a gardener, was found drowned in the Waibapai river. Apparently in crossing he got stuck In the soft mud. SHOOTING ACCIDENT.

Invercargill, June 23. Martin Scully, a sawmill hand, was received in the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. While sweeping out a room he knocked over a loaded weapon, which exploded, the charge entering his chest. His condition is critical.

RAILWAY PORTER SUCCUMBS.

Dunedin, June 22

Lawrence Jeffrey, the railway porter who met with a serious accident while shunting at the Lawrence railway station, succumbed this morning. Deceased was 34 years of age. He leaves a wife and a son aged eight.
