The following ladies and gentlemen took part: —Mrs Terry (Peggy Black, landlady of the Red Lion), Mr J. T. Bovis (an artist and poet), Mr J. J. Trainer (Raymond Cardon, of Cardon Hall), Mr A. H. Yates (Isaac Jewell, a money lender), Mr J. H. E. Tilling (George Cardon, known as “Flash George”), Mrs G. R. Hall (Mrs Cardon, wife of Ramond Cardon), Mrs E. Cole (Naomi Blandtord, niece of Raymond Cardon, an heiress), Mr E. J. King (Harry Cardon), Miss Bessie McDonald (Jim, an outcast), Mr R. Bilderbeck (Captain Belfield), Mr E. Perry (John Maitland), Mr J. Jamieson (warder of Portland), Mr J. King (postman). The Shannon orchestra, under the leadership of Miss Laurvig. provided some excellent music.
