CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —I was a bit amused in reading the report oi the Borough Council proceedings in your last issue at the remark of one of our. “City Fathers” —heaven sav©>^ the mark! —when a date was mentioned for the holding of a special meeting of the Council, that he didn’t want it held on that night because he desired to attend a variety entertainment! Ye gods and little fishes, what next ? What a reflection upon the intelligence of those who elected this “city father” to watch over their interests. If an entertainment is of greater importance to this individual than the business of the borough, then the sooner he gives place to someone possessed of a deeper sense of his responsibilities the better it will be for the borough. I would suggest that the Council provide this gentleman with some chewing gum and a book of nursery rhymes, whereby be may amuse himself at future Council meetings.—Yours, etc., Lux.
