OBITUARY.

MKRVYN LITTLEJOHN — AGED 36.

It is with deep regret that we record the death of Mr Mervyn Littlejohn which took place at his residence at au early hour yesterday morning, after a very short illness. The late Mr Littlejohn was in his usual health last week, with the exception that he had a slight cold, and on Friday visited Otaki by motor car. It is believed that during the trip he caught a chill and had to take to his bed on Saturday. He developed pneumonia, bronchitis and pleurisy and gradually got worse, passing away yesterday morning. The deceased, who was only 36 years of age, was born in the Nile, Tasmania, and came to New Zealand about 11 years ago. He had been a resident of Foxton for seven years. He was a prominent member of the local Oddfellows Dodge and he also took a keen interest in shooting matters. The late Mr Littlejohn’s parents, Mr and Mrs James Littlejohn, still reside in Tasmania and it was bis intention to pay them a visit at the end of next month. He leaves a widow and family of five young children to mourn their loss and to whom we in common with the citizens of Foxton, extend our heartfelt sympathy. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon, leaving his late residence at 2 o’clock for the Foxton Cemetery.
