LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
NEW NOMINEES.
'Wellington. June 9.
Asked to-day if it was intended to introduce the Legislative Council Bill into the Upper House this session, as was done last year, the Prime Minister replied in the negative. The Bill would be introduced in the House of Representatives.
It was not one of the twenty policy measures which the Governmerit would have ready, for Parliament when session opened, but Was in an advanced stage of preparation and needed only the final approval of Cabinet. Mr; Massey said the principle of large electorates would be retained, but each island might possibly be subdivided for the purposes of representation. The next appointments to the Council would probably be announced in the Governor’s speech.
