ENTERTAINMENTS.
ROY AX, PICTURES. The programme of films to be screened at “The Royal” tomorrow night includes subjects by some of the best companies. The star picture is one by the wellknown Vitagraph Company enf titled, “The Dawning,” featuring - Earle Williams and Leah Baird. • This is a brilliant society drama 1} and holds the interest of the from start to finish. The drama, “Pals,” will introduce a make of films new to Boston, the Flying A Company. It depicts Dan Matthews employed on the ranch of Thomas Wells, of whom Virginia, the baby of the ranch, is a constant companion. A workman named Henry Willis, and his mao, Stove Johnston, have been discharged. The time comes when he finds himself compelled to let Dan Matthews go. The little one goes to seek him in the country. Her search continues until she is worn out, and night finds her asleep upon the open range- Henry Willis and his man are looking for a place to camp, and come upon the sleeping child. They pick up the child and proceed to camp under a near-by tree, near the spot where old Dan is resting. Dan cautiously creeps upon the two men, who are planning their revenge. Dan fires a shot, which kills the companion of Willis, then charges upon Willis in an effort to rescue the little pal of other days. A struggle ensues, but an opportune shot from the leader of the posse lays low the the villainous Willis. Another particularly interesting drama is, “Lady Clare,” by the Edison Company. The amusing portion of the programme is comprised of, “A True Fish Story,” "He Swore off Smoking,” and “In the Flat Above.” The last named shows that apartment houses make straiige neighbours, and sometimes bring about strange relations. - Tom Talbot, a staid old bichelor, has an apartment just atove pretty little Priscilla Putnun, who gives singing lessons to wculd-be vocalists. Their attempts at singing almost drive the poor mail crazy, and he lives in bedlem j tuned loose. Tom gives a bacheV lor’a supper to some old friends. After feasting, there starts a little game of cards during which noises begin to ascend from Priscilla’s conservatory just underneath. To counteract the disturbance the men begin to pound and jump on the floor, Priscilla goes to bed, the . boys keep on the racket so vigorously that Priscilla screams and runs from the room. Finally matters are arranged by pretty Priscilla flitting upstairs.
CORONATION PICTURES. Some very pretty as well as 1 interesting stories will be told on the screen at the municipal hall to-morrow night. “Nerves and the Man,” this is a film presentation of one of Mr Oppenheim’s most powerful themes. The story is superbly played and of certain appeal ,to the hearts of many a young married couple iti the land. *‘A Child of the Purple Sage” or “A Little Child Shall Lead Them,” a very beautiful story of a rough man and a tiny child, the little child at prayer will stir a chord in all. “The New Ranch Foreman,” p is a Lubin film full of excitement I with a good moral. “Berlin Fire Brigade,” in the latest topical series will give us quite a new idea of this splendid organism. There are two very fine scenics, “Sagatari Valley,” and “On the Coast of Istria.” “Domestic Devonshire,” a film of interest, showing us a very energetic little corner of the great world, were all is peace and prosperity. These comics are something good this time, four of them : “Robert's Lost Supper,” causes many a smile, “ Sammy’s Flying Escapade,” ,the smile again only broader, “ The Family Next Door,” the smile is now changed into a very broad grin, and when “The Pink Corset,” comes on the grin breaks into a perfect gale of laughter.
