NEW PICTURE THEATRE.
The new hall in Clyde Street Is now nearing completion, and will be opened on Saturday next as a picture theatre by Hayward’s Enterprises Ltd. The building, which will be known a» “The Royal,” is 75 feet long by 48 feet wide, and has seating accommodation for about 600 people. In the front of the building are two dressing-rooms, the ticket box and a sweets shop. The entrance to the hall is nicely tiled, and the building altogether has been designed with a view to the comfort of patrons. The chairs in the circle have upholstered seats, and in the stalls wooden bottoms. The pit, which will be in the front of the ball, is provided with forms with backs. The building • is lighted .throughout with electricity, the power for which is provided by a 12-k h.p. gas engine. The picture-projecting machine is a Gaumont, and it will be driven by a small electric motor,, instead of by hand. The operator’s cabinet is on the ground floor, and is lined with asbestos, and quite up-to-date in every particulars Ample provision has been made for people getting out of the ball and the building could be cleared in a very short space of time. For the opening performance on Saturday night a special programme has been obtained, fall particulars in connection with which will be advertised in Thursday’s issue.
