TOWN CLERK'S REPORT.
At last night’s Council meeting the Town Clerk reported on the past month's work as follows: — “ The roadmen have been engaged in spreading metal as it came along to ,fill holes In Russell, Park, Duncan and Cook Streets, The Avenue, Eady’s Mile and Sandon road. They have also been at work in draiaes as follows: —Awahou, Avenue, Coley Street, Johnston Street, Union Street and Purcell Street. All possible advantage of dry weather has been taken to continue the manufacture of asphalt for the lower end of Main Street, and I hope to see the footpath completed to the junction with Union Street before the end of the month. The Main Street water channels have been cleaned out weekly. The main work for the coming month will be chiefly in drains and road mending, though I am anxious, if possible, to lower that dangerous corner on the Moutoa road. I beg to recommend that tenders be f called, to be dealt with at next monthly meeting, tor the purchase and removal of old safe, no longer required now the strong room is in use.” The report was adopted.
