Kirk, solicitor, was elected Mayor. Westport. A. Leaver 1045 (elected), T. Q. O’Brien 643, T. Samuel 306. New Plymouth.—G. W. Brown 1350 (re-elected), J. S. Medley 781. Timaru. Wangland (four candidates). Majority of 28 over over T. Hawkey, present Mayor. Marten. —J. H. Miles elected by a majority of 123. Taihape.—W. McLennan 469, H. D. Bennett 293. Nelson.—W. Lock 1226, W. W. Snodgrass 1134. Lyttelton,—J. R. Webb polled 608 against G. Laurenson, M.P. 490. Mr Laurenson was advocating the establishment of a suburb across the harbour and stood with the intention of pushing this scheme.
