WEDNESDAY’S ELECTION.
For Wednesday’s poll the District Electors’’List contained 1038 names and put of this number 735 votes were recorded —a percentage of 70,80 as against 59.79 per cent, in'ipii, and 52.70 per cent, at the 1909 election. These figures prove conclusively-) that more interest was taken by'the electors on this occasion than has ever previously begn the case. In connection with the election of Councillors,. 5341 individual votes were cast, giving an average per voting paper of 7.26, which is exactly the same average as in the case of the 1909 election. At the last general election of Councillors the average was 7.12 per voting paper. The number, of votes cast for eabk candidate and the percentage that dumber represented of the total votes cast was as under: —
Of the candidates who took part in Wednesday’s poll and also in that of 1911, when there were twelve candidates the number of votes polled by each and the percentage of the total votes cast was: Coley 321 (76.79), Chrystall 236 (56,45) and Speirs 276 (66.02). In *909 there were thirteen candidates andntthat election Cr. Coley polled. 248 being 70.25 per cent, of the votes cast, and Cr. Speirs 2xo a percentage of 59.49* In the Harbour Board election, where there were three candidates for two seats, the votes recorded for each worked out on a percentage basis were as follows: —Henuessy (608) 82.72, Jenks (415) 56.46, and Harvey (231) 31.42,
