MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
QUARTERLY RETURNS
The Clerk of the Court has supplied us with the following returns of the business transacted at the local Court during the quarter ended March 31st., 1913. During the quarter 15 sittings of the Court were held, three being presided over by the Magistrate, and 12 by Justices. civil.. The number of cases heard by the Magistrate was 65. The number of plaints entered was 51, 9 applications were heard in chambers, one order was made, 4 distress warrants were issued, 5 judgment summonses and 2 orders were made on judgment summonses. The aggregate amount sued for was £519 J 4 S 2( L and the amount recovered was £289 2d. The amount of civil fees paid in stamps was £l9 17s. CRIMINAL. Twenty-one persons were taken into custody, summoned or apprehended two of whom were dismissed on the merits aud 19 were summarily convicted. Tea were fined, one was imprisoned, four orders were made, and four were convicted aud discharged with a caution. The amount of fees and fines paid iu stamps was £lO 8s
