ADVANCE SHANNON.
A public meeting was held at Shannon on Friday night to consider the advisability of going in for a high pressure water supply in Shannon. Mr Suggate, civil engineer, stated that a suitable scheme would cost about 0,000.' He aeswered a large number ol questions relative to the scheme. Mr Gunning proposed aud Mr J. R. Stansell seconded; ‘‘That Mr Suggate be appointed to prepare a report, and also that the committee should draw up a list of those who would guarantee the initial expenses connected with the report.”
This was carried. The chairman then read a letter from the Pahiatua Progressive Association, which had been handed him by Mr Beech. It stated that the Association were moving in the direction of getting the road completed between Pahiatua and Shannon and to that end had interviewed the Premier, who. had promised his support of the object. This question caused considerable discussion, when finally Mr Gunning moved and Mr Judd seconded “ That the Horowhenua County Council be asked to co-operate with the Pahiatua Association and endeavour to get the thing brought to a head.'’
