GUN CLUB.
OFFICIAL OPENING. The official opening in connection with the recently-formed Foxton Gun Club took place on the race course on Friday afternoon. The function was a very successful one indeed and was well attended by the public. Visiting shooting men were present from Shannon, Sanson, Glenoroua, Levin, Otaki and Martou and altogether a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Among the visitors were a number of very good shots, and in the majority of the sweepstakes the local champions had to take second place to these. In the unavoidable absence of the Mayor,.the opening ceremony was performed by Mr C. Hunt who also fired the first shot. After the opening ceremony a match was fired between teams selected by the President and VicePresident, which resulted in a win for the President’s team by 22 kills to 9. . The Club has a number of trophies to be competed for and arrangements in connection with these competitions will be made at a meeting to be held this week.
