For some time past the District Hospital Board has been faced with the necessity for increased accommodation, both for the sick and the nursing staff, at the institution. At the last ordinary meeting of the Board it was decided to call a special meeting to deal with this question. The meeting was held last Tuesday, and the Board instructed its architect to prepare plans and specifications for the erection of a twostoreyed brick men’s ward to accommodate 44 patients, to be erected on the site and in place of the present ward, and a new nurses home, also in brick. This will mean an expenditure of upwards of ,£20,000, and should fulfil all requirements for many years to come.
