The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, March 20TH., 1913. SUNDAY BOWLING.

Tine momentous question as to whether the Foxton Bowling Club should throw open its green for Sunday play was settled at a special general meeting of the club last night. Eleven members recorded their votes in favour of an amending rule to prohibit Sunday play, and twenty • opposed it. The club by a substantial majority opposed the principle of Sunday observance. For reasons already stated we regret the club’s action, and hope that those who are responsible for the victory will yet take a broad and unselfish view of the whole matter and not offend the religious susceptibilities of a large section of the general public.
