MOUTOA SCHOOL PICNIC.

The above picnic was held in Mr Friers’ paddock near the school grounds yesterday (Friday). Fine weather, a large attendance and an energetic committee, all helped to make a very successful gathering. The splendid sum of £l3 had been contributed by the public, which enabled the committee to give a book to every scholar. Every child took part in races and each, down to children in arms, received a toy. The obstacle race for boys, run off in heats, was won by Stan. Newth, the greased pig was caught by Walter Dudson and the married women’s race won by Mrs Jagger. Alter tea, cheers were given for the ladies, Mr Dudson for conveying children, the collectors and others, Mr Wilkins for gilt of pig, Mr Galland and the chairman, Mr A. Saunders. The catering, which left nothing to be desired, was done by Mr M. Perreau.
