OBITUARY.
DAVID PI RANI—A?TAT 49
YEARS.
It is with feelings of sincere regret that we chronicle the death/, of Mr David Pirani, brother of Mr F. Pirani, of Feilding, which took place at Palmerston N. on Thursday night, at the comparatively early age of 49 years. The late Mr Pirani was at one time one of the proprietors of the Manawatu Standard, and some time since sold out and took up farming. He quitted his farm at a handsome profit, and went into the land and commission agency business at Auckland. His health for some time, however, has been a matter of concern to his wife and relatives. Arriving with his wife at Palmer* ston on Thursday, they proceeded to the bouse ot Mr Millar sen., Mrs Firani’s parents. He was subsequently discovered in his bedroom in an unconscious condition —the result of having swallowed a quantity of Jay’s fluid. Everything was done to restore him to consciousness, but he passed away at 10 p.m. Mr Pirani leaves a widow but no family. Writing of his passing his brother says : “Kindly, patient, tolerant, goodnatured, easy-tempered, faithful, true as steel, straight as a die, liberal-minded, broad-naturedj and moral as few can be—David Pirani deserved every, word of such an encomium to his memory. It would be neglecting a duty owing to the dead to forget that he was a model! son to his parents, a comrade of the best sort to his brothers and sisters, and a true lover and taithful husband to the wifevhehas left behind to mourn her loss. To those who might find fault with, the manner of his going, it is well to say that the writer knows his one thought was to do what he thought was best for his wife, to spare her future misery, and to prevent his being a life-burden to her. Probably he was mistaken, but hia was the sacrifice, and now it is not for us to judge, lest we be judged# Alas, my brother! ’’
