DEATH OF DR. HARRISON.

EI.THAM, February 24,

Absolute gloom was cast over the Eltham district by the sad death of Dr, G. A. Harrison, which occurred yesterday morn* ing. About a fortnight ago the doctor attended a child patient who was operated on for acute abscess on the neck. When bandaging the wound he slightly pricked the thumb of his left hand with the pin used for fastening the bandage, and a few days later symptoms of blood-poisoning were manifested, which increased with alarming rapidity. A week ago the left arm was amputated to the shoulder, and since then Dr, Harrison had been lying in a critical condition, causing great: anxiety to his medical attendants, and passed away yesterday morning, at the age of 47 years. He had practised in this district for nearly twenty years, and was greatly esteemed by the people of the dislrist.
