CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor.) g lß> —The last few day? there have been a number of u desirable shout "k: town. Hu Tite.-idiK -tv: unfortunate was lying on the foot* path in Union street; another one wa? lying- on the side of Thynne street, while still another was wandering aimlessly along Main street, every few minutes roaring out, to the utter consternation of the'women folk and children who had to pass him on the street. These individuals have been snaking themselves a nuisance to the public by continually asking for a shilling or the price of a meal. Now, sir what I ask you is what are our police paid for, and where are they ? are they asleep or indifferent to their duties? Surely they will never say it has not been brought under their notice, as the above nusiance is too apparent. I commend this to the notice of the controlling authorities of our little town.—l am, etc., Peace.
