GIRL’S FOOLISH ACT.

Auckland, Feb. 4,

A girl about 20 years of age, dressed in male attire, was admitted to the hospital suffering from poisoning by perchloride of mercury. Though her condition is serious she will probably recover in a few days. The Salvation Army authorities state that early last evening a well-dressed “youth” walked up to the Army Home at Parnell, and, after ringing the door bell, was seen to swallow some tabloids from a phial. Suspicion was aroused, aud a doctor and the police summoned, It transpired that the visitor was a girl masquerading. .She admitted she had taken poison, stating she was tired of life and wished to end it. She had been in service iu Ponsonby. The girl was removed to the hospital.
