MOUTOA NOTES.
(Own Correspondent),
A start has been made with the metalling of that portion of the Foxton-Shaunoa road which was reformed some months ago. It is to be hoped that the whole of the road will be put in order before the winter months.
The Moutoa State school reopens on Monday next. Miss Ivy Russell, of the teaching staff, will return from her holiday at Wanganui to-day. A Moutoa farmer was unable to account for the disappearance of the apples from his orchard, so he, sprayed the fruit on the trees and' afterwards quite a number of “gentlemen” living in the neighbourhood of the orchard had their equilibrium somewhat upset. The Poplar Flaxmilling Co. has commenced operations at their new mill at Moutoa.
_ The Foxton branch of the Salvation Army paid a visit to Whifaunui one night last week, I believe it is the intention ot the Army to visit all the flaxmills in the district.
