HEMP MARKET.
The High Commissioner cabled at noon yesterday as follows: — The hemp market is firm. There is a general and active demand. Good speculative business has been done. Reports from Manila indicate a strong market. Spot good fair, £33 5 fair, £3l ios ; Manila, fair, xos ; Manila, ; output Manila for the week, 25,000 bales ; stock, New Zealand, 336 tons, WOOL SALES. London, Jan. 19. At the wool sales there was a strong market and a large selection. Prices were fully maintained. The number ot bales catalogued was 40,345 and those sold 38,234.
