The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, January 16, 1913. COUNCILLOR GREIG.
WE feel sure ratepayers and householders will endorse the Council’s action in granting leave of absence to Cr Greig during his visit to England, and that the Council’s request that he should leave an acceptance of nomination for a further term will also meet with the approval of the burgesses. The Council’s flattering relerences to Cr Greig’s administrative capabilities are well merited, and we hope he will act on the suggestion indicated. Cr Greig is more a man of action than of words, and we make bold to say that Foxtou does not possess a more enthusiastic advocate for its future welfare than the gentleman in question. His advanced ideas in the flaxmdling industry, and his consideration for the comfort of his employees have been an object lesson to captains of this industry, and, by the way, we are pleased ;o see that millers are following his example in this respect. Bearing all these facts in mind — backed by personal qualifications —we had hoped to see Cr Greig elevated to the position of Foxton’s chief citizen this year, but this is not to be. Anyhow, we hope the absence of a few months will not mean the subsequent loss of Cr Greig’s wise counsel at the horse-shoe table.
