The Manawatu Herald. Tuesday January 14. 1913. A MINISTERIAL VISIT.
Thk Minister for Railways, the Hon. Mr Herries, is to visit Foxton this mouth. The object of his visit is’to inspect the proposed tramway extension route from Marton to Sandou, and presumably to spy out the country between Levin and Marton, which is to link up the Main Trunk Line. The Minister comes to the district at the invitation of the Mauawatu County Council. Those interested in railway, Harbour Board and industrial matters should not let the opportunity pass of getting into personal touch with the Minister and putting their views before him. It is not to be expected that Ministers of the Crown come to a district in order to acquaint the people of the district’s requirements, and if Mr Herries is allowed to pass through without being waited upon and the pressing needs and potentialities of the district brought under his notice, he will rightly conclude that we are a stick-iu-the mud community. Get in touch with representative men in the district and urge them to be present and voice the district’s requirements, entertain him as befits his office, and let him feel that our horizon is beyond :he sordid, selfish, money-grubbing stage. We pass this bint on to those in the district who occupy high places in local governing affairs and from whom a lead is expected.
