MOUTOA NOTES.

(Own Correspondent). It is the intention of the Flaxmillers to continue running during the holidays, that is, if sufficient labour can be procured, in order to take advantage of the good weather and the high prices ruling for hemp.

The Foxtou-Shanuou Road is being prepared by the road grader for the metal.

The weather of the past week has been exceptionally dry and warm.

The Poplar Flax Dressing Company are pushing along with their new mill, and expect to start soon after New Year. The mill and the accommodation will be of the very best. In the sleeping accommodation, separate rooms for each employee will be provided. I am pleased to report that this is the first attempt by way of separate rooms for each person at any flaxmill, and I hope that the example set by this company will be followed by others who contemplate rebuilding.

The postal note issue at the local post office is of great benefit. Postal notes to the value of per week are being sold.

The Moutoa school will close on Friday next for the Christmas holidays. Miss Ivy Russell, of the local teaching staff, is leaving for her home in Wanganui on Saturday next.

It is rumoured that rope and twine works will be erected in Shannon by 1,, and A. Seifert, limited.
