AFFAIRS AT WAIHI.
EEDERATIONISTS HUSTLED.
Wmhi, Dec. 5
Messrs W. K. Parry, M. McLennan, and Wesley Richards, got an unpleasant reception at the Grand Junction mine this morning. They went to interview Mr Grace, the superintendent, re Labour matters, but vvheu they got on to tbe company’s property their passage was interrupted by a number or workers, who objected to their presence. The objectors eventually hustled them off the properly. It appears that the party had obtained an interview with Mr McConauchie, mine manager, and the latter had referred them to Mr Giace. It was while looking for Mr Grace that the workers interfered with the Federationists aud, as alleged, assaulted them. Mr McLennan, in the course of the hustliug, was struck ou the eye. Subsequently they saw Mr Grace. The latter, ou hearing their account of the action of the. men, disclaimed any knowledge ol the affair, aud said he did not countenance such behaviour.
