ENTERTAINMENTS.

PICTURE SHOW.

Another grand spectacular battle picture for Saturday, entitled, “The Red Cross Martyr,” really a most impressive and touching vyar story : the sacrifice of a beautilul young Italian girl administering to the sufferings of others. Full of stirring action, heart interest, and great battle scenes. We follow the lives of the hero, a young Italian officer, and Marie Euchem, the Red Cross nurse, and for both ot these there is no happy afterwards ; at the end of the story we see both buried together, with military honours. Another film is a very pretty Pastoral comedy drama, “The School Teacher and the Waif.” Also, ‘Fire and Straw,” the story of a settlement mission worker and a defeated burglar. The fourth drama is a very interesting one, “The PasserBy.” A travel film shows ns a most delightful motor trip over Ben Nevis. “At the Ljnugan” a scenic, shows perfectly phottgraphed views of a winter landscape in Scandinavia, in which one of the most prominent features is one of those rivers which, rapid even in summer, are, after the melting of the snow, transformed into veritable torrents. The close view we obtain of the river above the waterfall resembles the rapids.

The programme also includes the Gaumont Graphic, and a picture showing the life of a racing pigeon. The funny element is quite as good as ever ; “Professor Stout’s Honeymoon” shows this whimsical performer to exceptional advantage in the role of a newlymarried music conductor, who is unlucky enough to forget the name of the hotel where he has left bis bride.
