During the dynamite conspiracy trial at ludianopolis Ortie McManigal’s confession revealed plans to blow up the Panama Canal, The dynamite already in use lor canal purposes was to be secured and a quantity placed in each lock. The motive for the proposed crime was the employment of non-unionists.
The following communication from an irate Maori purchaser of a motor bicycle to the firm supplying him, is worth representing: —“ Dere Ser, i recive the moter byke from u owl rite but y it send no spauor what is the use of the moter with no spanor u r d looleshues people an no good.
yours trully .” P.S' since i rite this letter i fine the spauor in the box excuse to me.”
A drunken man got into a train at Glasgow, and found himself opposite a clergyman, who was quietly reading his newspaper. The bibulous one looked at his reverence for a little, and then, leaning forward, exclaimed: “D’ye know this, I don’t belive in Heaven ! ” The clergyman took no notice. “ D’ye ken, man, what I’m tellin’ ye ? I don’t bTieve in He’v’n ! ” Still no notice. Then the irritated drunk again leaned forward, and taking the clergyman by the coat, shook him roughly, shouting : “ Are ye listenin’ ? I’m tellin’ ye I don’t b’lieve in H’v’u ! ” Then the newspaper was quietly lowered, and a soft voice replied : “ Well, if you must persist, go to Hell — but go quietly.”
