CAMERA CLUB.
A meeting of the Foxtou Camera Club was held in the Presbyterian Hall on Thursday evening. The attendance was fair, and was no doubt affected by the inclemency of the weather. A discourse was given on photographic plates by Mr E. Huntley, in which he gave a briet outline of the history of the sensitive plate from the first experiments of Daguerre and Niepce down to the manufacture and composition of the highly sensitive emulsions of to-day. Various classes of plates and methods of speed testing were interestingly touched upon. Coloursensitive plates, and their advantages over tho=e of the colour-blind variety, received the most attention, and photographs were submitted to illustrate the true monochrome rendering of green, yellow, blue and violet according to their true visual brightness. Owing to time being limited, the speaker was unable to fully cope with this comprehensive and most important branch, and signified his willingness to devote a special night to orthochromatic and panchromatic work. A vote ol thanks was accorded the speaker. The subject to be dealt with at the meeting of the club a month hence is “Development,” to be treated on by Mr Savill, and to be accompanied by a demonstration.
Mr Teviotdale will speak on “Exposure” at a meeting of the Club to be held on December 12lh.
