A CHEAP WIFE.

SOLD FOR.ONE SHIFTING,

How her husband sold her to another man for a shilling was told at Bedford Police Court recently by a woman named Rebecca Millard, who applied for an order under the Summary Jurisdiction (Married Women) Act against her husband, Henry Millard, a silver plater, on the ground of persistent cruelty. Mrs Millard admitted that ten years ago she went away with another man. Her husband sold her for a shilling, and put her in the train to go with this man. They were then living in Cheapside, Loudon. She lived for two and a half years happily with the other man, and then her husband found her at Birmingham, and begged her to return. She did so, but had left him several times since because she was afraid of him. The Bench refused the order.
