ESCAPEE.
Whangarei, Nov. 4. The prisoner Huston was before the Court all day, and was committed on three charges of burglary, theft, and two of breaking from custody. Mr Edmunds then handed the prisoner a paper, which was quickly snatched by a detective. A scuffle ensued between the police and Mr Edmunds, who "nally was thrown over a chair, Mr Edmunds appeared on two later cases against Huston, then abruptly left the Court without comment.
When taking the prisoner from the Court to the cells to-night a crowd hooted the police and cheers were given for Huston.
