DRIVEN MAD BY TRAGEDY.

WIFE STAVS FOR DAYS WITH HUSBAND’S CORPSE.

A terrible tragedy has come to light at Bray-Dunes, a little watering place near Dunkirk. A few weeks ago M. Paul M’Mauy, an architect, of Liege, arrived with his wife at the Villa Fougere. After some days the neighbours remarked that the new arrivals were never seen to leave their house, though Mine, D’Many could be observed silting lor hours at a time at one of the windows, staring apparently into vacancy. Surprise developed into anxiety when the housekeeper who had been engaged to look alter the couple announced that she had knocked at the door fiequently without being admitted. It was resolved to force an entrance. In a room on the first floor the architect’s dead body was discovered,A revolver lay near him, and his forehead had been penetrated by a bullet.

Mme. D’Many, who had become a raving maniac, came forward, crying “Don’t touch my husband. He is sleeping.’’ No other words could be got from her. M. D’Many had been dead for at least tour days. Mme. D’Many showed the marks of violent blows, and a bullet had lodged in her upper jaw. It is conjectured that M. D’Many, in a fit of neurasthenia tried to kill his wife, and then committed suicide.
