HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A well attended committee meeting of the local Horticultural Society was held last night, presided over by the President, Mr Alex. Speirs. Correspondence was read and received. It was resolved to ask Mr Just to judge pot plants, cut blooms, fruit and vegetables. The following stewards were appointed : —Pot plants, Miss Speirs; cut blooms, Mrs Adams and Misses Signal and Ross ; fruit, vegetables and dairy produce, Mr Newlh ; cookery and home industries, Mrs Kempster, Miss Neylon, and Mr Woods; decorative, Mrs Frankland and Miss Symons; fancy work, Mesdames C. Robinson and Nye ; photography, Mr Hornblow; school work, Mesdames Mandl, and Seabury ; miscellaneous, Mr Hornblow. The President, Secretaiy and Air Witchell were appointed a sub-committee to arrange re letting of tea rooms. The matter 01 entertaining the judges was left in the hands of the President and Secretary. Mrs Healey was appointed to take charge of the sweets stall, with power to appoint assistants. Messrs Henderson aud Kempster were appointed door stewards. It was decided to ask Mr Betty s orchestra to contribute selections during show nights, and to accept Dr Adams’ offer to arrange a programme of items. Resolved to allot Mr S, B. Collins’ trophy to section xyfc> in the Autumn Show, and that the balance of Mr Easton’s donation of 13s 6d be allotted to section 200, rst 10s aud second 3s 6d. It was decided to leave the question of a photography class in the Autumn Show to Dr Adams.
