A meeting of stewards of the Foxton Racing Club was held last night, when there were present : Messrs Barber (cnairmau). Hammond. Wilchell, Easton, O. and C. Robinson, F. Jeuks, Hynes, Stunned and the secretary. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Jenks, seconded by Mr Easton, that the prize money in the Awahou, Electric and Flying Handicaps be increased to for first, second, and £lO third horse.
A number of accounts were submitted and passed for payment.
It was decided, on the motion of Mr VVitcbell, that the Club be registered under the Unclassified Societies Act.
A meeting of the Committee was ai ranged to be held on the coarse, when a number of proposed improvements, including the enlargement ol the stewards’ room, new number boards in the centre of the course, new cookhouse, etc., will be finally considered.
COURSE IMPROVEMENTS. During the year, the Club has carried out a number of improvements to the course and buildings. The old saddling paddock has been made into a public enclosure, and the saddling paddock removed to a site under the trees, round which a galvanised iron fence has been erected. The iron fence round the new public enclosure has been replaced by a picket fence. The course proper has been manured and top dressed, and is now in first rate order. All the buildings have been thoroughly overhauled, and the appointments now are equal to any club of a similar size in the Dominion. The stake money, which has always been allotted on a liberal scale, has this year been increased, a step that will undoubtedly be appreciated by owners.
