TOWN CLERK’S REPORT.
The Town Clerk submitted the following report uu the workings ot the borough lor the past month, at last night’s Council meeting “The Falmerstou gravel continues to come forward very slowly, and the Jackeytowu in t at all. The roadmen have been spreading and breaking metal iu Main Slice! and Lady 's Miie. Tney have also been filling holes iu Russell Street aud Jouusluu street, widening and lascimug cutting in Johnston Sired (between Cook Street aud Uurou Street), cleaned water channels iu Main Street, and mowed aud weeded Uie i'iiaagle. it will be necessary shortly to re-tar the Mam Street, or else the tarring done last year will be wasted. I am sorry to report that the head roadman, Tbos. Cooke, has been suffering from lumbago tor the past week or two, bul i expect hi will be able to resume work m a day or two. ‘ ’The picture shows iu the Towu Hall are as popular as ever, in fact, the attendance is even better, but owiug to the reduction in prices the receipts are not increasing. The caretaker and operator, Mr McArtuey, is askiug lor a week’s holiday, aud lakmg iuto consideration lue fact tual he has to work Sundays and holidays, aud that his work is thoroughly well done, i recommend that nis request be granted. • In April last 1 suggested iu my report that some seats should be placed iu lire cemetery, aud would now recommend that six 01 seven be procured aud placed iu suitable places, to be seiecicu by the reserves Committee.’’
