The chairman stated that since the report was written, some important matters had been taken up by the Association. In the first place, the Department of Agriculture had offered to telegraph to the secretary of the Association, each Monday morning, particulars of the market quotations for hemp and tow. Secondly, the Department were now considering the matter of grading stripper slips, as suggested by the Association ; and, thirdly, the Premier was bringing in a Bill to relieve flax-owners of the present dual taxation, imposed under the separate classes of land and income regulations. ’ Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows :—President, Mr Jos- Liggins; vicepresident, Mr E- L. Broad ; hon. treasurer, Mr M. Cohen; committee, Messrs C. C. Higginson, A. Seifert, E. P. Levien, W. G. C. Smith, L. Seifert, and A. A. Brown.

With regard to the Water Pollution Bill, now before Parliament, it was decided to appoint Messrs E. L. Broad, W. G. C. Smith, E. P. Levien, and L. Seifert to give evidence Jaefore the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee ot the House. It was pointed out that the measure, which has the support ot millers, was meeting with a good deal of opposition from certain quarters. As it is considered ot almost vital importance to the very existence of the flaxmillmg and dairying industries, the Association will do its best to assist the passing of the Bill.
