MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
QUARTERLY RETURNS
The Clerk of the Court, Mr F. Woods, has supplied us with the following returns ot the business transacted at the local Magistrate’s Court during the quarter, ended September 30th, 1912, The Court was presided over by the Magistrate on four occasions and by Justices twelve. CIVIL BUSINESS. The Magistrate heard and determined 35 cases, the amount sued for totally was 18s 3d and the amount recovered was 2s xod. Three applications were heard in chambers, 2 orders were made, 25 plaints were entered, 1 distress warrant, 3 judgment summonses were issued, 2 orders were made on judgment summons, 58 summonses were served, 8 distress warrants were executed, and one warrant of committal was executed. Amount of civil fees paid in stamps was 7s. One old age pension was grantedCRIMINAL. Eighteen males and 1 female were taken into custody and summoned, 3 cases were discharged for want of evidence, 3 were committed for sentence, 7 fined, 2 orders made, and 4 convicted and discharged. Amount of fines and costs 1 os.
