PALMERSTON COMPETITIONS.
At the Palmerston Noith 'Elocutionary Competitions, Mr By:on Blown won the gent's dramatic recital with 151 points, and with Miss Pauline Brown, the Sliakesperian dialogue with 14b points. He also won the gent’s musical monologue. The only Foxton competitor was Mr J. K. Hornblow, who won the gent’s humorous recitation, was third in the sight reading, and highly commended in the musical monologue. The points scored by him were 146, IS2 and 132 respectively. The judge’s remarks on his performances were : Humorous recitation Dialect very good; very good performance ; humour well brought out. Musical monologue—A very good performance, but too draggy. Reading—A very intelligent reading at sight, but rather too hurried.
