PALMERSTON SHOW.

The twenty-seventh of the noted A. and P. Shows, for which the Mauawatu has become famous, is set down for October 30th, 31st and November Ist. This year’s schedule, which is now available, is in advance of anything yet issued by the Association, and a glance through its pages reveals many changes. It would take up too much space to do full justice to the programme, but we may mention one or two items which

will show what is being done. For those of our readers who are fond of the popular ring events, we may say that a new competition for qualified hunters has been inserted. This is a similar event to the one which takes place at the winter show, and which has become a feature thereat; it should prove a great attraction to lovers cf the hunt. New classes appear for wool shearing and classing ; also horse-shoe making. The competition for open hunters’ cup, which was completed last year by the win of Mr E. D. O’Rorke, commences again this year, for a similar trophy presented by that gentleman. The live stock divisions have never been catered for as they are this year, the book showing a generous and diverse list of trophies and special prizes. The Manawatu Kennel Club has remodelled its schedule, and made it far more attractive than previously. Art needlework, home industries, and schools divisions have been overhauled, and a large increase of entries is looked for all over. We might add for the benefit of intending visitors, that Palmerston North is a very full town at Show time, and it is well to look ahead in the matter of accommodation. The secretary is Mr W. T. Penny, from whom all information may be had.
