MOISTURE IN BUTTER.

A special Parliamentary Committee to consider the advisability of appointing an expert analyst to assist the dairying industry by measuring the moisture content of butter and cheese is urged by Mr F. W. B. Greville in a petition which was presented to the House of Representatives on Wednesday by the Hon. A. L. Herdman. The petition states that owing to the absence of the expert assistance recommended, the industry incurred during the last year a loss of and that unless something is done the loss will increase as the dairy output increases. His suggestion is that the committee should consist of the members for the following districts, as being those most vitally interested in the proposed inquiry : Mataura, Palmerston, Pahiatua, Stratford, Manakau. Kgmont, Franklin and Taranaki.
