THE HEMP INDUSTRY.
AUGUST GRADING RETURNS.
The total number of bales of hemp graded during the mouth of August was 4,431, as compared with 5,237 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 806 bales. For the twelve months ended August 31st, 1912, the number of bales graded was 91,166, as compared with 97,091 for the previous twelve mouths, the decrease being 5,925 bales. During the month, 1139 bales of tow were dealt with, as compared with 1128 for the corresponding mouth of last year, an increase of 11 bales. For the twelve months ended August 3 lst > 1 9 12 > the number of bales graded was 25,388, as against 29,520 for the previous twelve months, the decrease being 4,132 bales. HEMP. The number of bales ot hemp graded at the different ports was as follows :—Foxlon 1895, Wellington 1743, Auckland 642, Bluff 131, and Dunedin 20. The number of bales in each grade was :
Seven hales at Wellington and 22 at Auckland were rejected, TOW. The tow deak with at the different grading centres was as under :

STRIPPER SLIPS. At Wellington, 141 bales, and 32 at Foxton. were passed for shipment, and at Wellington 26 bales were condemned.
