Last Monday evening will long be remembered by the members of “ The Try Again” Lodge, Foxton as a red-letter one. A “ fraternal visit ” from the Shannon Lodge was expected, and the English Church Sunday School room bad been kindly placed at the disposal of the lodge lor the occasion by the vicar and churchwardens. The visitors arrived per coach packed closely inside and outside. The Chiet Templer, Br. H. Hamer, called upon Br. W. S. Stewart, L.D., to welcome the visitors and address the brethren. This was done briefly, but happily and appropriately, and under the guidance of the C.T., the members set themselves to have “ a good time.” In the course of the evening the following programme was effectively rendered and thoroughly enjoyed : —Song, “The Admiral’s Broom,” by Br. A. Rimmer; recitation, “Cards,” by Br. H. Watt; song, “She Was a Grand Old Lady,” by Br. H. Hamer; song, by Br. H. Saville; cornet solo, by Br. A. Rimmer; reading, by Br. Stewart; song, “ When the Sunset Turns the Ocean into Gold,” Sister Butt; recitation, “ The Gee Bung Polo Club,” Br. Hyde. About half-past nine the meeting adjourned to Mr Perreau’s dining rooms where ample refreshments had been prepared by Mr Perreau and his very capable assistants. This over, the brethren returned to the schoolroom, resuming their colloquial and musical entertainment, and about xi o’clock the visitors set out on their return to Shannon amidst hearty cheers and good wishes for a safe journey.
