CR. ADAMS’ RESIGNATION.

Sir,—l notice that Cr, Adams has resigned from the Council and also at the same meeting he refused to record his vote on a motion before the meeting. I think the ratepayers who elected him have a right to know (i) the reasons of his resignation; and (2) why he disfranchised them by refusing to discharge his dub by them at the Council table ? Without some explanation his attitude is not only selfish but extremely childish. —I etc., Interested Ratepayer.

Sir, —I am glad to notice that a little interest is at last being taken in the municipal government ot Foxton, and it the stirring up comes from the Dabour Party, Wharf Party or any other party, and it is for the ultimate good of the town, then I say, sir, credit is due to those responsible for the stirring up. Surely, sir, it is time there was a shaking up. You cannot shut your eyes to the lact, because you have said so more than once in your paper, that the lack of interest displayed in borough affairs by prominent citizens has kept Foxton in the rear. If the ratepayers wont get a wriggle on, then it is high lime the householders taught the ratepayers their duty. Ido not agree 'with the personal remarks of Cr Richmond in his letter which appeared on Saturday, and I think the proper place for such remarks would have been at the Council table. Although Ido not know the gentleman, I want to say this, that he deserves credit for his protest about the temporary buildings, and I am very sorry his motion was defeated I hope he and his fellow councillors will not leave a stone unturned to compel the owners of the temporary buildings to remove them when the nine months expire. Thanking you in anticipation,---I am, 6tC* ’’ Ratepayer. [A letter to the Editor re gas matters is unavoidably crowded out of this issue, and will appear in our next.]
