MISS MARIE BAINES
We have no doubt that the play-going and laughter loving public o! Foxtou will be delighted to hear that Miss Marie Baines, and so aptly termed, “London’s Queen of Comedy,” has arranged in response to numerous requests, to pay a flying return visit on Friday, 6th September. The unanimous opinion of her former patrons is that Miss Baines is the cleverest and most versatile artiste that has yet visited Foxton, will, we feel confident, go far to ensure a crowded house, for those who did not have the pleasure of seeing the previous performance will readily avail f hemselves o* thh opportunity. ..Ac company .w,' again produce that most laughable of farcical comedies, ‘‘Our Mary Ellen” interspersed with new items and specialities. We have no hesitation in saying that Miss Baines’ impersonation of the title role is worth a pilgrimage to see and hear, and we can thoroughly recommend all who delight in an evening's thorough enjoyment to reserve Friday, September 6th, and book their seats at the town hall.
PICTURE SHOW. A very interesting programme is advertised for Saturday night. Among the dramas we find “ lola’s Promise,” the story of how the little Indian maiden paid her debt of gratitude. lola the little Indian girl is held captive by a gang of cutthroats from whose clutches and abuse she is rescued by Jack Harper, a prospector. lola surely pays her debt, not only in helping Jack to find gold, but iu giving her life to protect jack’s sweetheart from her own people, who are embittered against all whiles. There will also be the first presentation of ” Tracked Down,” a. detective story by the Essanay Company which reaches I.he top-notch of fascination. A stirring Western drama, ” The .Deputy and the Girl,” telling how a brave girl lied to save her lover. An industrial film, ” Borneo Pottery,” ‘‘Glimpses of the Caspian Sea,” glorious scenes on a beautiful sea. “ Mystical Matches” is a verj r pretty trick novelty film. “ A Spanish Dilemma,” telling how a Senorita cannot tell which 01 the two brothers she cares tor most. Another most amusing comedy is ‘‘A Persistent Suitor.”
