FOXTON RACING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual general meeting of members of the Foxton Racing Club was held in the Council Chamber on Tuesday evening. Mr W. E. Barber (vice-president) occupied the chair and there was an attendance of about 30 members. The annual report and balance sheet, particulars of which have already appeared in these columns, was read and adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year ; Patron, Mr J. Stevens (re-elected); president, Mr J. R. Whyte (reelected) ; vice-presidents, Messrs W. E. Barber, F. E. Jenks, 0. audC, Robinson (re-elected); treasurer, Mr H. Witchell (re-elected); clerk of scales, Mr H. Stunell (re-elected) ; surgeon, Dr, Mandl (re-elected) ; clerk of course, Mr C. Petersen (re-elected); auditors, Messrs P. Henuessy and W. Bock (re-elected) ; timekeeper, Mr E. E, Smith (re elected). For the positions of stewards,the following nominations were received : Messrs Dr. Mandl, J. Burr, G. Coley, H. G. Hammond, R. Hynes, F, S. Easton, C. Hunt and H. Stunell, and upon a ballot being taken the result was as follows ; G. Coley 31, Dr. Mandl 30, H. Stunell 30, R. Hynes 28, F. S. Easton 25, H. G. Hammond 23, J. Burr 19, C. Hunt 14. The first seven were declared duly elected.
The amended rules brought forward by the outgoing committee were discussed and with one or two slight alterations were adopted. It was reported that at the last race meeting one of the officials was short in his cash and that this amount had been paid by the secretary out of his own pocket.— It was decided to vote the above mentioned amount to the secretary to reimburse him in this connection.
The following new members were elected: Messrs G. Philips, H. Fiekles, L,. Freeman and R. M. Parkes. Reterence was made to the excellent work of the secretary during the past year, and the question of granting a bonus or raising his salary was discussed. It was eventually decided to raise the secretary’s salary to ,£75 per annum as from August Ist ol last year.
The meeting terminated alter passing a vole of thanks to the chair.
