Macdonald stating that he was prepared to sell 600 acres of land at per acre for purposes ot closer settlement. —This was in answer to a request from the Chamber that Mr Macdonald would state his intentions. It was decided that a deputation consisting of Mr Robertson, M.P., the Mayor, and Mr Lancaster wait on the Minister of Lands and explain that Mr Macdonald was willing to sell a block of land for closer settlement purposes, and ask him (the Minister) on behalf of the Government, to take immediate steps in the matter.
