THE HEMP INDUSTRY.
HIGH COMMISSIONER INTERVIEWED.
Mr Mackenzie, the High Commissioner, was interviewed at the Palmerston N. station on Tuesday by Mr Broad, acting president of the New Zealand Flaxmillers’ Association. Mr Broad pointed out that, as the royalties were based on the first report cabled out by the High Commissioner, it was important that the report should be accurate ; also that the best grades ot hemp were not receiving so much attention at Home as it was thought they should. He asked that samples of the best grades should be exhibited, and that advice on market or shipping matters should at times be sent out t<> the Flaxmillers’ Association.
Mr Mackenzie said he recognised the need of accuracy in respect to both flax and dairy produce. He was urging the Government to secure premises suitable for exhibiting New Zealand produces, and giving details of supplies and prices. He would be g'ud to receive samples, and would give all the assistance he could.
